Long standing captain of the Nigeria men’s football team, Ahmed Musa, has said most players of the Super Eagles don’t understand what it means to wear the jersey.
Why Ahmed Musa Has Not Retired From The Super Eagles
Musa, in a session with the media, explained why he hasn’t retired from the team despite being taunted many times to do so.
A lot of people have been saying Musa is old. No! I started young. Started with the Super Eagles around 19 years old so I’ve been there since because whenever I wear that jersey, it’s a privilege for me, that’s why some people are saying what has Musa been doing there for long.
Why Ahmed Musa Gives His All Playing For Nigeria
“I started early because I love the country and I know whenever we loose, the pressure they face back home like people saying na em mother be that, make we insult her.”
“So definitely when I get on the pitch, I will give all I have so nobody is going to insult my family.”
How The Super Eagles Players Behave Because They Don’t Live In Nigeria
“Nowadays, it’s not like that. The players we have, none of them stay in Nigeria; they don’t know that anger that all of us here are facing when we loose.”
I cried a lot when we didn’t qualify for the World Cup and I know what our ex-president did.
Why Moses, Mikel Are Still Needed In The Super Eagles Team
“We have young boys in the team and a lot of them don’t take that pressure because whenever they’re playing they think oh after I finish playing, I’d go to my social media and see a lot of insults…”
“We have a lot of players that are not supposed to retire from the team but because of what the media are saying, they have to force them to go out of the team. As you can see, we still need someone like Mikel Obi, Victor Moses.”
“It’s not all about young players in the team because you need someone to take them along but right now we don’t have that.”
