The visit of Akinwunmi Ambode, the immediate past Governor of Lagos State to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received wide welcoming and kudos.
What Transpired Between Ambode and Tinubu
Ambode fell out with Tinubu in 2019 when he could not get his reelection ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to become the Lagos State Governor for the second term.

The former Lagos State governor lost the ticket to the incumbent Babajide Sanwo-Olu in a direct primary election.
Both former governors were later reunited at the state reception organized for Tinubu by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on June 29.
Why Ambode Visited President Tinubu
According to a report on Western Post, the meeting at the Presidential Villa is believed to be the final reconciliation between both men.
President Tinubu is believed to be considering Ambode for an appointment in his government and the Friday meeting is presumed to be an avenue to conclude discussions to that effect.
Prior to the meeting, president Tinubu had publicly insisted he had nothing against Ambode as the decision to remove him was that of the party members.
Despite the claims, many still believed that the then governor’s failure to get the ticket of the APC was as a result of his falling out with his erstwhile mentor and political godfather.
When both former Lagos State governors met in June 2023, Tinubu publicly acknowledged Ambode’s presence, saying, “I’m glad to see Ambode. Thank you Akin.”
