The news of the death Mrs Tolu-Ige Olokoobi the mother to Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola who went viral in 2020 after begging the mum saying “mummy be calming down” has shocked many as she reportedly committed suicide in Benin, Edo State.
Who Announced The News Of “Mummy Calm Down” Mother Committing Suicide
On Monday afternoon November 6th, an X (formerly Twitter) user, Samuel @sammydo214 reported that he was at the scene of the incident.
“The woman in the viral Mummy Calm down video has just committed suicide here in Benin,” he wrote.
Why Mrs Olokoobi Committed Suicide
According to @sammydo214, she had refused to share her problems with anyone before committing suicide.
“She refused to speak to anyone about her problems. She left three kids for her husband including the popular Mummy Calm Down boy.”
The Husband Involvement In The Matter
The spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, spoke with BBC Pidgin and clarified that the husband is in their custody and detained for questioning.
According to Nwabuzor, the husband reported the matter to the police and quoted him saying “he came home from the market when he saw his wife hanging with rope on her neck”.
Nwabuzor said she was rushed to the hospital and then to the mortuary after she was confirmed dead.
