Liverpool Football manager, Jurgen Klopp, has admitted that he would leave the club if the club run is still consistently struggling.
His announcement however indicates that there is still no clear long-term successor to the German.
Why Klopp Want to Quit Liverpool FC
He suggested that he would relinquish his role in charge of former European Champions league winners if the campaign is not yielding positives and they continue to struggle.
When he was asked earlier in April if he’d ever experienced a season like this before, Klopp retorted:
“No, thank God. I wouldn’t be manager of Liverpool if I had a couple of these seasons. We have to get through it. That’s how life is. You have to fight to change your fortunes.”
Possible Replacements for the Liverpool Managerial Position if Klopp Leaves
- Steven Gerrard
The Reds legend, Steven Gerrard, was being touted as the man to step in when the time comes for Klopp to abdicate.
Gerrard’s disastrous stint at Aston Villa appears to have put paid to his aspirations of managing the club he cherishes above all others, at the moment to imagine the least.
- Xavi Alonso
The Spaniard is a former Anfield teammate to Gerrard and also a legend in his rights at the club.
Xabi Alonso has started to garner a reputation as one of the most exciting managerial prospects in Europe following his impressive work in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen.
Alonso was appointed in October 2022 and has worked wonders for Leverkusen. He booked their spot in the Europa League semi-finals, lifted their relegation concerns in the Bundesliga and only RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich has amassed more than the 39 points Leverkusen have collected over the course of the past 20 league games.
His game style is also noted to be attractive and attacking.
