There have been twelve managerial sackings in the Premier League this season and some came with the usual suspect while some were awkward to describe.
Introduction
A total of 12 Premier League managers have been sacked so far during this 2022/23 Season.
What this then imply is that there has been most sackings in a single season than any in just a single season in the league.
Chelsea and Southampton have the most sacking this season doing so twice to their managers.
List of the 12 Managers Sacked This Season
1. Scott Parker
On August 30th, Parker lost his job after Bournemouth were trashed by Liverpool FC 9 nil at Anfield.
Prior to the beginning of the season, he had guided to Cherries back to the Premier League.
2. Steven Gerrard
The Liverpool legend was heart broken the 4th time in his managerial career after his spell with Aston Villa not yielding positives as desired.
His team had been within the relegation battle and a 3-0 defeat to Fulham hours earlier sealed his fate.
He had only one win in nine Premier League games before he was finally relieved on October 20th.
3. Frank Lampard
January 23rd was the deciding day as the former Chelsea legend got the awful news that his position was esteemed at Everton.
A 2-0 defeat to relegation rivals West Ham saw Lampard sacked as he had only five defeats in six Premier League games but had guided Everton just above half of the table a season earlier.
4. Nathan Jones
The Welsh could not even be in charge till Valentine’s day as he found no love but lost his job on 12th February after a 2-1 home defeat to 10-man Wolves.
5. Thomas Tuchel
The ownership change and some disagreements with the new owner ensured that Chelsea’s Champions League winning coach had to go.
A defeat at Dinamo Zagreb 1 nil in their first group stage match in Europe was all the German had as he was booted out on September 7th.
6. Bruno Lage
The Portuguese was sacked on October 2nd after Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 defeat to West Ham.
7. Ralph Hassenhüttl
With nearly half a decade taking charge of Southampton, the Austrian 4-1 home defeat to Newcastle sealed his fate.
Hasenhuttl saw The Saints slip to six losses in nine league games hence he was sacked on 6th November.
8. Jesse Marsch
The American was sacked by Leeds after seven league games without a win and ultimately just two victories in their previous 17 outings.
Marsch’ was sacked on 6th February after he had helped the club away from the relegation trapdoor last season,
9. Patrick Vieira
March 17th was the French man last day at his Crystal Palace team were winless in a dozen game hence a spot in the relegation belt.
The former Arsenal great was replaced by Roy Hodgson – who he himself replaced in July 2021.
10. Antonio Conte
He was sacked as manager of Tottenham following his stunning rant at owner Daniel Levy on March 26th.
His contract was supposed to end at the end of the season but the Italian lambasted Tottenham’s playing squad and board after the 3-3 draw with Southampton.
11. Brendan Rodgers
Leicester City sacked the Irish manager April 2nd after Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace.
A statement from the club’s board said they were “compelled to take alternative action” to stay in the Premier League.
12. Graham Potter
The English arrived at Stamford Bridge in September and took charge of the Premier League giants for 31 games, winning 12, drawing 8 and losing 10.
Despite signing a five-year deal that was worth £12 million per year the management could not cope with him but had to let him go as the Blues form was nothing to write home about lately.
